About the Tri-County TrifectaThe Tri-County Trifecta was developed in 2015 by the Tri-County Kentucky United Way in celebration of the three counties – Marion, Nelson and Washington - that are served by their organization. Each county independently conducts a signature 5K race in their community, which occurs during the United Way’s campaign.
The Tri-County Trifecta consists of three races -- the Pokey Pig in Lebanon, the Sorghum Shuffle in Springfield, and the Spirit 5K in Bardstown. Each 5K recognizes participants at their own event. To be eligible for the Trifecta, individuals must be registered and participate in all three 5Ks. Trifecta participants are recognized, and winners from each category are awarded, based on their performance in the three races overall. The goal of the Trifecta is to promote participation in each of the 5Ks, as well as to educate people of the United Way presence in their communities. The United Way identifies sponsors for the overall Trifecta, which help to cover the costs of the Spirit 5K and the Trifecta overall. All proceeds benefit the Tri-County Kentucky United Way to fight for the education, financial stability, and health of every person in every community in Marion, Nelson, and Washington Counties. The United Way currently provides funding to over 20 programs, helping local people in need.
